Happy Birthday Mom

January 26, 2008, it is my mom's first birthday in heaven! I am overjoyed that she is celebrating in the best possible way. If I could be so bold as to imagine the celebration of a birthday, it would be a birthday party for my mom. I believe that she is going to have the biggest most delicious cake ever, after a feast of all of her favorite foods. Ray's grandmother is leading all of the children there in a beautiful Happy Birthday Chorus, and then everyone will eat more cake and ice cream! Last year we wore gowns and gloves on in her hospital room, the grandchildren were not able to be there because of the infection and we had to limit the amount of chic-fil-a and birthday cake mom ate. Her precious friends gave her a surprise party in the hospital cafeteria as well. But not this year! This year she is eating and living and celebrating with the One who gave her breath. So, while I am thinking of her today, I miss her, and I will go to Baskin Robbins and eat ice cream in her honor!
I survived the first round of my implant surgery (and I don't mean boobs)...dental. It was last Wednesday, my mouth still hurts, I want to chew real food, but I have some shiny new teeth! This was just the bone graft surgery, I will have another one around March and then the last one this summer. The doctor said I could travel to Vietnam in July and we would finish it when I returned. (Anyone want to go to Vietnam with me and help with a special education conference? I am recruiting anyone and everyone who may be the least bit interested. Pray about it. Our first planning meeting is Feb 3rd.)
Tomorrow I will stop by Baskin Robbins, eat some ice cream and give thanks to God for the joy that He has given me. It has come in the form of my husband fixing me a malt, Mecca driving me around in a wheel chair in Walmart, phone calls from friends, Steffen coming to visit, the sound of my sweet little boy's voice, enduring friendships and the promise of birthdays in heaven.
Happy Birthday Mom!
