Thanksgiving was truly a day of thanks as well as a day of remembrance. I am thankful my mom is healthy and happy in heaven, although I miss her tremendously! I am incredibly thankful for my wonderfully supportive and loving family. There were 13 of us at my house this year. Last year we took turns going to the hospital. Both my Burleson family and Austin family were all together, except for my brother Charles and his wife, Sheryl and the kids, Coleman and Sumner. They went to her dad's for Thanksgiving. Everyone stayed a really long time, well into the evening and we had a blast. Lunch and dinner were delicious! Friday was a very hard day for me, as everyone went back to work and home and I felt alone. So my dad and Dolly came over and we spent the day together. I can't remember if I blogged that Dad has a dog named Dolly, after Dolly Parton. She has been a great distractor for all of us! We made it through Mecca's birthday and our first major holiday without my mom but filled with Joy that comes the Lord. The Pathway of Joy blog began as reflection of personal experiences, thoughts, feelings and conversations during my mother's illness and the journey to peace after her death. Now it is just about the surprising and unexpected joys (and disapointments) that surround us while living on earth.
